Making Your Family A Priority

A Capable Attorney For Spousal Maintenance

Arizona spousal maintenance cases do not use a calculator to determine payment, and there is no catchall strategy for cases. Because a judge will decide if spousal maintenance is appropriate and the total amount of payment, these cases can have wildly different results. No matter what side of a spousal maintenance case you are on, you need an attorney who will present an effective courtroom argument.

At Glickstein Law, PLLC Attorney Falynn S. Baum, I give my clients personalized representation. From my Phoenix, Arizona, office, I help clients on either side of a spousal maintenance dispute get the best possible outcome for their case.

Understanding Spousal Maintenance

Spousal maintenance, also called alimony or spousal support, is compensation paid by one spouse to another. A spousal support agreement can last either for a set length of time or for the rest of a spouse’s life. Judges use factors like the length of a marriage and a spouse’s employability to determine who qualifies for maintenance. Spousal maintenance is usually determined during a divorce or legal separation, which is already an emotionally charged time.

Judges use many variables to decide the amount and length of spousal maintenance, including:

  • A spouse’s standard of living
  • The duration of a marriage
  • The age of the spouse seeking maintenance
  • A spouse’s employment history and earning ability
  • The physical and emotional condition of the spouse seeking maintenance
  • The time needed to get employment education or training
  • The cost of health insurance and medical care

I will represent your interests in spousal support negotiations and the courtroom. I will create a compelling argument that demonstrates your needs and changes in quality of life. For some clients, I can make spousal support agreements nonmodifiable, graduated or nongraduated. These special agreements are generally not possible in the courtroom and require a knowledgeable attorney.
